What is γPNA?
γPNA is a nonionic synthetic oligonucleotide mimic with high affinity and specificity for complementary DNA and RNA. GammaPNA improves on traditional PNA in two important ways: (1) integration of water-solubilizing groups into the oligomeric backbone suppresses aggregation, precipitation and surface adsorption and (2) introduction of a chiral center pre-organizes gammaPNA into a right-handed helical structure, leading to exceptionally high affinity that allows invasion into highly structured targets such as duplex DNA.
